History of San Lorenzo Ruiz College

In 2002 during one of the Board Meetings of the children of Potenciano and Aniceta Larrazabal, it was decided to pursue the dream of their late parents to open a school in Ormoc City.

Plans were immediately drawn up after a suitable location was identified. A seven-hectare lot in Barangay San Pablo that used to be a sugarcane farm gave rise to a three-storey building for the school, and later to a ladies dormitory for the convenience and safety of female students coming from neighboring towns.

By 2004, San Lorenzo Ruiz College of Ormoc, Inc., opened its doors to the first level of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing course. Two years later in 2006, the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science was offered.

Encouraged by the initial success of the two courses, San Lorenzo Ruiz College again embarked on a new challenge. This time, in 2009, the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy course was opened. It is worthy to note that the latter two courses ( Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science and Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy )are offered only  by San Lorenzo Ruiz College, Inc.,  in Ormoc City.

San Lorenzo Ruiz College has the following programs offering;  Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( Gov. Recognition No. 01, s. 2008), Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science ( Gov. Recognition No. 12 s. 2008 ),  and  Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy ( Gov. Recognition No. 2, s. 2014).

With the implementation of the R.A.  No. 10533, the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 issued by the Department of Education through the DepEd Memo No. 4, series of 2014 with School ID 403619, San Lorenzo Ruiz College of Ormoc, Inc. welcomed some 112 students to Grade 11. These students became the first graduates of Grade 12.

Today, San Lorenzo Ruiz College of Ormoc, Inc. has become a trusted educational institution not only for Medical Courses but also for the Senior High School graduates who intended to take medical and other courses in college.

It is to the memory of  Potenciano and Aniceta Larrazabal that the growth and success of San Lorenzo Ruiz College is dedicated.
